Trend Report for The Style Column

Year after year the colour white crops up in copious Spring Summer collections. However, this year it came in full force forging itself the title of being an official trend for 2012. September’s catwalk showed us that there are two key ways to wear this simple colour: Ultra girlie and pretty or minimalistic, clinically clean and cool.  At Jil Sander, designer Raf Simmons focused on purity and elitism to produce sheer white linen dresses with many folds and layers to disguise their transparency. Versace showed us two-piece short suits in white neoprene adorned with tough golden studs. Meanwhile Louis Vuitton used white in a much sweeter way with floral appliqued dresses, skirts and blouses. Similarly Valentino kept things feminine and innocent with doily lace patterns, linen and chiffon dresses. It’s an easy look to wear as it is a colour that suits everyone – though be warned; take extra caution when eating and drinking, you don’t want any undesirable stains on your pearly whites!  Check out how The Style Column suggests you wear white this season with these must have items:
