Once again it's been a long time since I've posted! Writing for The Style Column takes up a lot of my blogging energy which combined with all the college work I have at the moment, means I have greatly neglected my blog.

So a little update....I am very happy to announce that I shall be attending University for the Creative Arts in Epsom in September to study Fashion Promotion and Imaging. I accepted my off today and for the last few days have been chatting to other future students and trying to decide which accommodation to apply for. It's all got me so excited! Can't wait to go!

Accommodation all sounds pretty awful...but I feel that living in a shit hole during uni is like a right of passage..we've all got to do it! And if I didn't go in halls I know i'd struggle to meet people and make new friends!

I also recently turned 20! I've no idea whether to feel good or bad about this....thinking about it, I feel I haven't used my teenage years to their full potential for messing around and getting in trouble! Alas I am content.  My wonderful papa treated me to a much need phone upgrade and I now own a iPhone 4S! So nice to have a phone that doesn't run out of battery after 10 minutes and have apps that don't crash constantly!

Looking like a douche, posing with my phone

With all this uni stress I've gotten incredibly behind on my college work including my Final Major Project. Not good. Fortunately Easter, despite getting no sketchbook work done, I did manage to do a photoshoot with Jack which we're both very pleased with! Unfortunately he's run off to New York with uni before sending me copies of the images so I only have these two, which are no doubt bad quality as I had to get them off Facebook. But oh well, I shall post the real deal later and in the mean time you can view the shoot here on Jack's Site. Many thanks to the lovely Hester for modeling.

More to come on this shoot soon!

Report for The Style Colum

Fashion icon and Vogue Editor-at-Large, Andre Leon Talley, is set to get his own New York based TV show on Bravo.
Better known as arguably the best judge on reality show ‘America’s Next Top Model’, Andre’s new show will follow four new up-and-coming design teams as they produce the defining collection of their careers all under his watchful eye. The show, which currently holds the working title of Fashion Stories of NYC, aims to encourage emerging designers who are striving to build their own businesses in the Big Apple with the mission and motto to “create, show and sell”. It is yet to be confirmed exactly what role Talley will play (Mentor? Judge?) and whether any big names will be joining him on the show.
However, what is certain is that with Andre at the helm, it’s sure to be entertaining! Following the work of young professional designers will be informative and interesting for fashion enthusiasts.

Trend Report for The Style Colum

Baz Luhrmann has certainly started something this season! With the release of his his remake of the classic film and novel The Great Gatsby due later this year, the roaring 20′s are already dominating the catwalk. Many of September’s Spring Summer shows took us back to the decade of the flappers, getting us all day dreaming of doing a cheeky charleston in a secret speak easy. Others gave a strong nod to the movement that was Art Deco with the use of architectural prints and structured silhouettes.
As usual, Art Deco prints underpinned Holly Fulton’s collection, brought up to date for the season in a modern palette of bright pink and blue. Similarly, Gucci looked to architectural buildings such as the famous Chrysler in NY as well as the film Metropolis, which inspired a fluid yet fitted collection with dropped waists, fringing and precisely symmetrical prints. Meanwhile Ralph Lauren looked to the more lady like women of F.Scott Fitzgerald’s famous novel with an array of light silk numbers accessorised with small beaded bags and cloche hats. The revival of the Jazz Age is certainly upon us!

Report for The Style Colum

Team GB’s 2012 Olympic kit has finally been unveiled! Designed by Stella McCartney in collaboration with Adidas, this years kit was inspired by Britain’s iconic Union Jack flag.  Vests, t-shirts, leotards and crop tops feature a contemporary indigo take on the Union Jack with bright red detailing accompanied by matching red socks and trainers. Reporting to the BBC, Stella McCartney said: “Something that was very important to me was to try and use that very iconic image but to dismantle it and try to soften it, break it down and make it more fashionable in a sense”.  The kit was reviled on Thursday night at a spectacular event at the Tower of London. Over 30 athletes modelled the collection including swimmers, runners, gymnasts, basketball players and Paralympians and Miss McCartney was there in person to present the collection.

Be sure to check out Jacob Sutton’s official Stella McCartney for Adidas film that showcases the brand new kit in action.
